The Statistics and Data Service is the cantonal competence center for public statistics. It collects, analyzes, and disseminates statistical data on the situation and development of the canton, supports state services in data management, and coordinates the dissemination of administrative data in open access.

KOF delivers profund insight into the field of Economic Research. Next to conducting surveys in all branches of the Swiss economy, it also creates forecasts and indicators for business cycle analysis. KOF's data pool of business surveys is unique in Switzerland. KOF uses these data sets to mirror the economic situations and moods of Swiss companies through the generation of indicators. The KOF Economic Barometer, KOF Employment Indicator, KOF Business Situation, etc., are crucial for assessing economic developments in Switzerland. Many of these surveys are carried out monthly and results are evaluated quarterly to be presented to the public. KOF also analyzes the innovation of Swiss companies, provides studies on health issues and comments on current economic developments. KOF is also (together with the Ifo Institute in Munich) involved in the joint economic forecast in Germany, which is used by the German Government as a directional measure of future economic development.

EnviDat is the WSL data portal providing unified and managed access to environmental monitoring and research data. The portal has the capability to host and publish data sets. Through the sharing of unique and high-value data sets worldwide, EnviDat fosters research and contributes to advancing environmental science.

The Swiss Institute for Art Research (SIK-ISEA), founded in 1951, is a competence centre for art scholarship and art technology. Its primary activities are research, documentation, dissemination of knowledge and services in the field of fine art.

Swissmedic is the Swiss authority responsible for the authorisation and supervision of therapeutic products. Swissmedic's activities are based on the Law on Therapeutic Products. Unlike medicinal products, medical devices do not undergo an official authorisation procedure. Swissmedic's focus in the area of medical devices is thus on effective market surveillance.

Agroscope is the Swiss centre of excellence for agricultural research, and is affiliated with the Federal Office for Agriculture (FOAG). In pursuing these aims, the research institute gears itself to the needs of its service recipients.

The main task of the FSVO is to actively promote the health and well-being of humans and animals. The central pillars of this approach are food safety and healthy eating for humans, and animal health and welfare for animals.

The main task of the FOCBS is to contribute to the safety and protection of the population, the economy, the Swiss state and the environment. The FOCBS employs around 4,500 people and is active at home, at the borders and abroad.

The ARE is the federal government's centre of excellence for issues concerning spatial development, transport policy, sustainable development and international cooperation in spatial planning matters.

The Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) is part of the Federal Department of Home Affairs. Lawful execution of post and telecommunications surveillance under the rule of law is indispensable in order to protect the privacy of the population. The PTSS ensures compliance with the applicable regulations, acting as a central interface between the authorities and the telecommunications service providers. The main duty of the PTSS is to implement surveillance measures by order of the prosecution authorities. Previously, its main ‘clients’ were the public prosecutors of the 26 cantons, the Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland and the Federal Intelligence Service.

The State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation SERI within the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research EAER is the federal government's specialised agency for national and international matters concerning education, research and innovation policy.

The State Secretariat for Migration SEM determines under what circumstances a person may enter Switzerland to live and work. It also decides who is granted protection from persecution. In collaboration with the cantons, SEM organises the accommodation of asylum seekers and the return of people who do not need protection to their country of origin. It also coordinates the integration of foreign nationals into Switzerland, is responsible at federal level for naturalising foreigners and works actively at international level to control migration movements.

The Swiss Federal Archives (SFA) are the Confederation's service and competence centre for lasting information management. They appraise, secure, describe and provide access to archive-worthy records of the Swiss Confederation.

The Swiss Federal Office of Energy (SFOE) is the country's competence centre for issues relating to energy supply and energy use at the Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications (DETEC).
